Using Bifacial and Monofacial Modules in different Sub arrays

Hello,

I am simulating a plant that uses both bifacial and Monofacial modules with string inverters. Each inverter is either fed by bifacial or monofacial modules( not mixed)

With i try to define 2 subarrays, one with Monofacial and the other with bifacial, i get the following error - "When defining a bifacial system, all the sub-arrays should have a bifacial PV module. "

is their a way around this without creating 2 separate files?

Thanks!

I was able to do it by re-defining the monofacial module as a bi-facial with 0% bi-faciality factor in a custom .pan file. It does give the message "The bifaciality factor has an unrealistic value of 0.00", but it saves the file and allows the monofacial module to be used in a separate sub-array to run the model.

Is this a valid workaround?

Run two models, one with monofacial, one with monofacial set with bifaciality set to zero and compare.

Hi, does the 7.2 version able to mix bifacial and mono-facial modules in a same simulation? By the way, I'm connecting the bifacial and mono-facial modules to different MPPTs.

Hi PVsyst Team,

I hope this functionality is now available in the latest version of PVsyst. Can you confirm if its acceptable to design both CdTe and Bifcaial modules in 1 simulation. Also please can you let us know if Spectral Correction would be considered if we do in 1 simulation for First Solar modules. Additionally if you have any suggestions and recommendations on the method to simulate  both CdTe and Bifcaial modules in 1 simulation please can you guide us.

Regards,

Vamsee

Since v8, it is now possible to have multiple bifacial orientations, or a mix of bifacial and monofacial orientations (the latter do not require defining a backside geometry).

As long as they belong to different orientations, you can have a sub-array with bifacial modules, and another sub-array with monofacial modules.

However, it is not possible to define spectral corrections sub-array by sub-array. It is therefore not really recommended mixing CdTe and Bifacial modules, at the moment. I will add this feature to our request list.
