SolarAnywhere TGY vs TDY

Hello,

I noticed that the SolarAnywhere website states that the use of typical DNI year files may produce more representative results for tracker systems vs using typical GHI year files. I was wondering if PVsyst had any recommendations as to which file should be used for modeling tracking systems. Does PVsyst recommend the use of TDY files over TGY files from SolarAnywhere in some cases?

We understand their argument and it seems reasonable. But do not have enough studies to validate or invalidate their claim. Even TGY has its own specificities compared to TMY. The impact of changing from a TXY to another should be studied further.
