CivilNJ Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I am trying to understand/run an analysis of a rooftop system where the designer is using SolarEdge 33k US Inverter with P700 Optimizer and Hyundai HiS-S350TI Modules . Using PVsyst version 6.63The design jumps to two different tilt scenarios on one string and I believe that I have set it up properly but it seems to be unable to run the Simulation because one of the Sub-Arrays is too small (inverter is strongly oversized message). I have attached two screen grabs in the hopes that someone can direct me properly with this. Am I missing something or is this even possible? I just got off the phone with SolarEdge and the multi-tilt option shouldn't be an issue. I must be missing something in the PVsyst program.
dtarin Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Is the overall system size 41.3kW DC, 33kW AC? If so, use fractional inputs option in both arrays.
CivilNJ Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 it is 41.65 kW DC and a 33.3 inverter, so yes.I will try turning on the fractional usage.Thank You.
CivilNJ Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 It seems like there is more to this than simply turning on the Fractional Inputs. I had originally tried to analyze this with only one string on multiple tilts - oops. Now including all 3 strings to this inverter. I just haven't done anything this complex before. When you enter the planned power, it sets the Fractional to 0.1 - does that need to be set to the actual fraction of the array for each segment?Orientation parametersField type: Several orientations2 orientations: tilt/azim = 5°/0°, 18°/0°, Compatibility between System defintionsOrientation #1 tilt/azim = 5° / 0° 3 sub-arrays PNom = 37 kWp, modules area = 207 m² Orientation #1: No Shading field defined Orientation #2 tilt/azim = 18° / 0° 4 sub-arrays PNom = 41 kWp, modules area = 227 m² Orientation #2: No Shading field defined System parameters7 sub-arrays definedSub-array #1 5 Degree String 1Orientation #1Tilt/Azimut = 5.0° / 0.0°PV modules: 1 strings of 34 modules in series, 34 total Pnom = 350 Wp Pnom array = 12 kWp, Area = 67 m²Inverters (33.3 kWac) 3 MPPT inputs, Total 10 kWa Sub-array #2 18 Degree String 1Orientation #2Tilt/Azimut = 18.0° / 0.0°PV modules: 1 strings of 30 modules in series, 30 total Pnom = 350 Wp Pnom array = 11 kWp, Area = 59 m²Inverters (33.3 kWac) 1 MPPT inputs, Total 3 kWac,The inverter power is strongly undersized.Sub-array #3 18 Degree String 2Orientation #2Tilt/Azimut = 18.0° / 0.0°PV modules: 1 strings of 34 modules in series, 34 total Pnom = 350 Wp Pnom array = 12 kWp, Area = 67 m²Inverters (33.3 kWac) 1 MPPT inputs, Total 3 kWac,The inverter power is strongly undersized.Sub-array #4 5 Degree String 2Orientation #1Tilt/Azimut = 5.0° / 0.0°PV modules: 1 strings of 36 modules in series, 36 total Pnom = 350 Wp Pnom array = 13 kWp, Area = 70 m²Inverters (33.3 kWac) 2 MPPT inputs, Total 7 kWac,The inverter power is strongly undersized.Sub-array #5 18 Degree String 3aOrientation #2Tilt/Azimut = 18.0° / 0.0°PV modules: 1 strings of 32 modules in series, 32 total Pnom = 350 Wp Pnom array = 11 kWp, Area = 63 m²Inverters (33.3 kWac) 2 MPPT inputs, Total 7 kWac,The inverter power is strongly undersized.Sub-array #6 5 Degree String 3Orientation #1Tilt/Azimut = 5.0° / 0.0°PV modules: 1 strings of 36 modules in series, 36 total Pnom = 350 Wp Pnom array = 13 kWp, Area = 70 m²Inverters (33.3 kWac) 2 MPPT inputs, Total 7 kWac,The inverter power is strongly undersized.Sub-array #7 18 Degree String 3bOrientation #2Tilt/Azimut = 18.0° / 0.0°PV modules: 1 strings of 20 modules in series, 20 total Pnom = 350 Wp Pnom array = 7.0 kWp, Area = 39 m²Inverters (33.3 kWac) 1 MPPT inputs, Total 3 kWac,The inverter power is strongly undersized.Shading scene parametersNo shading scene defined
dtarin Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Set the small array to 0.3, the larger to 0.7.
CivilNJ Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 I am definitely missing something and am under the gun now. Throw out my original screen grabs.
