  1. Hello,
I’m trying to manually input the horizon profile, but I’m not sure what exactly "PV system size" refers to.

According to the tutorial, far shading is defined as being at a distance greater than 10 times the PV system size. However, it's unclear what this "system size" means. Is it 10 times the installation footprint? Or the distance from the center of the PV site to its edge?

I couldn't find any official documentation clearly explaining this, so I’d appreciate any clarification.

Please excuse any awkward phrasing—I used a translator.

  2. Dear PVsyst Support Team,

I’ve encountered an unexpected behavior in the simulation results.

I applied different Far Sahding horizon profiles to the same project, while keeping the Near Shading scene exactly the same.
However, I noticed that the Near Shadings losses changed depending on the Far Shading configuration.

    Could you please clarify:

    1. Does the Far Shading (horizon line) influence the calculation of Near Shading losses?

    2. If so, is this due to how diffuse or albedo components are modeled in the Near Shading algorithm?

    3. Are there known changes in this behavior across different versions?

I would like to ensure that my simulations reflect shading losses accurately without unintended overlaps or misinterpretation.

    Thank you for your support.

  3. Hello,

The simulation was conducted using the same Near Shadings (*.SHD) and Horizon to find out the difference in power generation between the SolarEdge inverter and the normal string inverter.
According to the loss diagram among the simulation results, [Near-shadings:irradiance loss] is different. (SolarEdge: -5.26%, String Inverter: -6.32%)
I would like to ask if Near-shadings:irradiance loss should be the same because it was simulated using the same Nearshadings and Horizon.
