Inverter Derating at High Voltage

Recommended Posts

Hi,

If an inverter derates its power output after a certain high DC voltage level then how to provide that information in PVsyst so that it is taken into account during simulations and can be quantified from the results?

Example: A 100kW inverter has an MPPT range from say 400Vdc to 700Vdc with a 0.333%/Vdc derating beyond 700Vdc. If this inverter is used in a 1000V array with a high DC to AC ratio then the voltage of the array is bound to go beyond 700V. Does PVsyst take into account this kind of inverter derating into account during simulations?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Is this already implemented? Are temperature and voltage de-rating calculations available in PVsyst?

Thanks

Temperature yes, if it is specified in the OND file. Voltage, I am not sure.

Hi, I'd like to follow up on this post as it's becoming more common to have inverters which derate power output as a function of dc input voltage. I don't understand the above response by PVsyst as to why this cannot be directly implemented in PVsyst (e.g., via additional inverter characteristic definition settings in the .OND file) in a straightforward manner. Please clarify it. Thanks.

I would also like to follow up this topic. It is still not implemented in PVSyst and can lead to errors on yield results, specially in high oversized DC generators.
