Hi,

could you please explain how PVsyst is calculating power output based on available ground area? Is it assuming that for example 10MW requires 750,000 square meters and then calculates expected power output as a proportion of that or is there any assumption made that one square meter gives aroud 8Wp?

I would like to use this functionality but I couldn't find any logic explained behind this feature..

Please explain where you found this functionnality.

I don't see any place in PVsyst giving directly an energy production as function of the ground area.

This information would require to define a GCR, as well as a plane orientation.

Hi, thank you for your answer.

Of course it requires more than ground area - also tilt angle as well as PV module and inverter selection (I'm interested in Project Design -> Grid Connected).

But still I need an answer on logic behind total power output calculation. I understand it all narrows down to approximation of how many number of strings and modules in series we can get from this area. How is it calculated then?

This is the result of the full simulation process, in hourly values during a full year.

With models for the irradiance on the PV modules, the production of the PV array, the inverter's behaviour, calculation of losses like shadings and all other losses mentioned on the loss diagram.
