We update the database using the requirements of the manufacturers, and publish it with each new issue of PVsyst (i.e. about every month).
We cannot of course follow all the new products of all manufacturers. It would be a very big task.
For PV modules and Inverters, you have also access to the PHOTON database
, which sometimes holds a more up-to-date data.
Nevertheless you can easily create your own components by yourself.
You could start from scratch by choosing "New", but this is not a practical way.
The easiest way is to choose an existing device
in the database (close to your own one), modify its parameters according to the manufacturer's datasheets
, and save it under a new file name, therefore creating a new component (file) in your database.
For Crystalline modules, you have mainly to specify Isc, Vco, Impp and Vmpp, the temperature coefficients muPmpp and muIsc, the number of cells in series and module sizes. All the other parameters may be let at their default values (checkbox on the right of each Edit). You can have a look on How should the Rserie value specified?
We cannot give any warranty on the database. When using a component in the reality, you are advised to always check the component's parameters with recent datasheets .
For the recent components (since 2010), the values are normally specified by the manufacturers, but they may let some errors that we don't always detect.
On the other hand, the datasheets may be modified by the manufacturers, without notice.
