Far Shadings/Horizon loss different when near shadings turned on

I just noticed in a simulation of dual-axis trackers that when I turned on near shading, the far shadings/horizon loss changed. I'm using Version 6.34.

With near shadings turned off, the far shadings/horizon loss was 3.7%, and with near shadings set to linear the far shadings/horizon loss was 4.4%.

It seems to me that the near shadings selection should not affect the far shadings/horizon loss. Might there be a bug that is causing this behavior?
