DOTUN TOKUN Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Am I able to specify genset running hours for an offgrid standalone design. The genset is expected to charge the battery and will like this to reflect in the simulations.
Linda Thoren Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Hi, In PVsyst, the back-up generator is considered as an alternator+rectifier element (Genset), ensuring the recharging of batteries when the solar energy is insufficient to satisfy the user's needs. You find additional information in the PVsyst help page below: https://www.pvsyst.com/help/component-database/back-up-generator.html?h=back+up+generator+(genset)
DOTUN TOKUN Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 Thank you, Linda for your response. However, my question is - Can i determine and specify the number of hours and the actual time I want the genset to run for? For example, I want the genset to only come on between midnight and 6am. Am I able to do this?
Linda Thoren Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Hi, No, the stand alone system will prioritize solar and only use the genset as a backup, thus unfortunately this is not possible to plan charging of the batteries with the genset without a direct use (and possibly waste solar produced energy in the morning if the batteries are already full and there is no direct need). The genset will ensure the recharging of batteries when the solar energy is insufficient to satisfy the user's needs.
