Not possible to compute shadings with tracker's 3D scenes with bifacial modules. 3D scenes imported from popular AutoCAD PV plugings.

Recommended Posts

I cannot simulate tracker's 3D scenes built with AutoCAD and plugings like PVCase or VirtuoSolar. With fix structure I was able to solve it by changing the tolerance in the "shading scene construction > tools > orientation management". Most of the scenes I am building are placed in sites where irregular terrain characteristics having NS tilted trackers with tilt angles from -8Dgr to 8Dgr is very common. In my projects computing 3Dscenes under this scenarios is a must specially because I need to use bifacial modules

How can I process this type of 3D scenes ? What I am doing wrong ?

Thanks and regards

M

As mentioned in the messages in red, the axis tilt needs to be horizontal or nearly horizontal to use the bifacial model.

In your scene the average tilt is apparently 2.4°. The default limit in PVsyst is 2°.

You can relax this requirement at Home window > Settings > Edit advanced parameters, but at your own risk !

Indeed, the bifacial model will anyway assume horizontal axis, so there will be a discrepancy (in the backside contribution) with the reality of your scene. This may cause some inaccuracies in the backside contribution.

Hi Michele,

Many thanks for your reply. This discrepancy is applicable to the latest version of PVSyst too  ?

Thanks and regards.

Yes the latest version of PVsyst (7.2.12 at the time of this post)still assumes horizontality for the bifacial model.

As long as you don't modify the parameter too far from the original 2° (it is an order of magnitude estimate, not a hard limit), the error should be minimal
