vijaykrishna.ds Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Hello, I am simulating a plant that uses both bifacial and Monofacial modules with string inverters. Each inverter is either fed by bifacial or monofacial modules( not mixed)With i try to define 2 subarrays, one with Monofacial and the other with bifacial, i get the following error - "When defining a bifacial system, all the sub-arrays should have a bifacial PV module. "is their a way around this without creating 2 separate files? Thanks!
dtarin Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 There is not. You need to create two variants.
lenergy Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 I was able to do it by re-defining the monofacial module as a bi-facial with 0% bi-faciality factor in a custom .pan file. It does give the message "The bifaciality factor has an unrealistic value of 0.00", but it saves the file and allows the monofacial module to be used in a separate sub-array to run the model. Is this a valid workaround?

Run two models, one with monofacial, one with monofacial set with bifaciality set to zero and compare.
lenergy Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 I tried that and the bi-facial produces 0.54% more kWh - any ideas why?
Zul2103 Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Hi, does the 7.2 version able to mix bifacial and mono-facial modules in a same simulation? By the way, I'm connecting the bifacial and mono-facial modules to different MPPTs.
André Mermoud Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 No, this is not possible in the version 7. The bifacial model is calculated for the whole system. This will be possible in the version 8, to be released in spring of the next year 2024.
